THE OSCARS AWARDS COME TO COLLINGWOOD…
Every year the 6th Form Media & Film Departments celebrate the fantastic practical work of our students by throwing an Oscars style party at the end of the AS course. We like to celebrate the success of our students by showcasing their films which have been created, shot and edited as part of their AS coursework. Kingston Theatre is magically transformed into Los Angeles’ Kodak Theatre, host to the Hollywood Oscars ceremony, through its Hollywood-themed decorations, and the students are able to see their work projected onto the large screen in true cinematic style. Throughout the night a steady stream of Yr12 students take on the role of the compere and announce the nominees for a series of awards which reward them for aspects of film-making such as cinematography, special effects, best use of suspense or characterisation, to name but a few. Everyone comes out in their best evening dress to add a sense of glamour to the occasion. The evening is always well attended by our students, who enjoy the candle-lit atmosphere and the pizzas during the interval.. Every year the standard of these films just keeps on getting better and better, and this evening of celebration is a testament to the creativity and hours of hard work of these young film-makers across both subjects.
